He Found Me Waiting Like A Lonesome Queen
Remember what I said in a recent blog post about creating contrasts in your ensembles for an interesting effect? Well, that's what I did today. I was feeling a bit rebellious, so I decided to wear these ultra ripped jeans and ankle boots which sort of have that tough, edgy vibe going on. However, I was also feeling a bit preppy, which is strange considering it's the total opposite of rebellious, but hey.... My personal style is very bipolar, hence the blog name. In the end, I paired my distressed jeans with a tuxedo blazer, and I think the combination of the two opposites really gives off a cool effect with its unexpectedness.
Why focus on a specific look (edgy, preppy, vintage, sweet, sporty, etc.) when you can incorporate two into one outfit? Fashion is all about blurring the lines and keeping people's interests piqued. I also refuse to be put into a box or a category. I don't want people to look at me and label my style as "preppy" when in reality it's also edgy or boho chic depending on my mood. Creating these contrasts in one ensemble will make it harder for someone to label you as just one specific thing. Based on this outfit I'm wearing today, am I preppy? I guess the blazer is. Am I edgy and trendy? The jeans are, definitely. Am I casual chic? Well, the shirt I'm wearing is. So what am I? Label me and put me into one category, I dare you ;)
