Burning Skies

I always read each and every one of your comments, and I noticed that a lot of you really enjoy my posts about how to mix patterns and match colors. I love reading comments and receiving e-mails from you guys telling me that you learned some things from my blog. Well, here's another outfit post for you showcasing another "tried and tested" color combination that I love: yellow, blue, and red.

Worn together, these colors just seem to work well without making you look like a walking Christmas tree lol. In fashion, the bolder the better!

As you can see from the photos, I wore a very casual outfit today. To me the word "casual" means basic, simple, and comfortable. However, it doesn't necessarily have to be boring.

A top, a cardigan, and leggings . . . It doesn't get any more basic than that, right? The trick is to choose pieces of clothing that are simple yet striking when it comes to their colors. My ensemble is really quite plain, yet I managed to still make it look "stylish" and not-so-ordinary by choosing a color scheme that really pops out.

BLUE PLAID BUTTON-DOWN from CPS
RED ACID-WASHED JEANS from Chick Flick

WHITE CITY BAG from Balenciaga

I am very flattered when people take the time to send me messages about my mixing & matching skills. But the truth is, I also just learn from other people, bloggers, and other things around me. If you want to take your fashion and style to the next level, then just keep reading blogs and magazines and take notes of how designers in particular mix colors and items together. Trust me, you'll never run out of inspiration if you learn to observe. Personally I get a lot of my style inspirations from watching television shows (specifically Gossip Girl and Pretty Little Liars). In fact, I used to only wear black and white, but Gossip Girl really taught me to mix bright and bold colors as well as to pille on the accessories like there's no tomorrow lol.

Don't be afraid to be flambuoyant and extravagant when it comes to style. Those who play it safe will never be remembered and will always be outshined.

  18. Love the cardigan Kyle! And I love Gossip Girl too, I'm the biggest fan of Blair Waldorf. Haha, but I'm not a very stylish person so I just admire people who can manage to be so stylish even with very simple outfits. :)
