Dark Paradise

The beginning of this blog post may sound a bit depressing, but please read on because I promise it actually has a semi-happy ending ;)

Heartbreak really changes a person sometimes. When someone we love suddenly decides to leave us one day, they take a part of us with them, whether we like it or not. We will never get that part of us back, and that is why we are never the same people after experiencing a breakup.

Even though I've had quite a few boyfriends and flings over the years, there was only ever one person that I ever truly loved. He was the only one that I gave my whole self and my whole heart to. When that particular relationship ended, it completely changed me as a person. I became very emotionally detached from people and I started to put my trust in nobody but myself. I built invisible walls around myself and I was all alone on one side, while my family, friends, and even God were on the other. I refused to let anybody in. Sure, it may have been lonely, but at least I was also safe. Nobody could love me but nobody had the power to hurt me either.

I thought that the walls I had built were strong enough to last for a lifetime. So imagine my surprise when I realized recently that someone is slowly breaking them down.

To be honest, I'm afraid to love again simply because I'm afraid to get hurt again. But love is all about taking risks, isn't it?

I think we all have our own versions of that "ideal guy". For me, it's someone who's British, tall, has a dangerous side yet still manages to make me feel safe, plays the guitar, looks very "disheveled" like he doesn't shower yet smells divine, not too handsome but very appealing, and has a sexy accent.

The strange thing is, the person I'm slowly falling for now is not at all like my ideal guy. Go figure. . . I guess it's really not up to us who we end up loving.

What do you guys think of this outfit? I tried to go for a "dark glamour" kind of look. I've wanted this beautiful blazer for a while and finally bought it a few days ago. I kept the rest of the look toned down and wore my new leopard oxfords to add a pop of color.

I really like the pattern on the blazer, especially at the back. Since it's Christmas season already, I figured that the gold color would be quite appropriate.
