ROFL: Understanding Internet Speak
The
evolution of the English language, along with the rise of internet gave birth
to a distinct form of communication. Studying the English language may seem
like a simple endeavor but translating it to other languages gives it a
completely different angle. For example, “Aprender ingles” translated online
means “to learn English.” As it continues to grow, the language becomes more and
more complex until it reaches a point where a generation modernizes their way
of communicating, culminating in something known as internet speak. These are a
few examples of what we now call internet speak:

It
may be difficult to understand some of these acronyms, but one thing’s for
sure, they’re definitely fun (and short) to use! ICYMI and JSYK, if you’re
enrolled in International
School Manila ATM, you may also learn internet language online 4SHO and
just use it IRL!
