Bioessence: My Top Choice

Being a student, a fashion blogger, and a fashion journalist for MODE LAB MAGAZINE, my schedule can get a little crazy at times. I have to make sure that I complete all of my school work first, then squeeze in an hour or two for blogging, and then another hour or so to fulfill my duties for MODE LAB. Sometimes I find it hard to set aside some time for myself.

Just last week, I went on a weekend trip with my manager and a couple of friends to Baguio. As soon as we arrived back in Manila, I was only able to sleep for 3 hours because I had school the following morning. Luckily, that was my last day of classes because we are now currently on our semester break, but unfortunately, I have other obligations to accomplish in the next few weeks -- photoshoots, events, and personal errands.

Sometimes I just want to take some time for myself and relax, and I'm glad to say that I've finally found the perfect getaway: BIOESSENCE.

So what is Bioessence, you ask? It is a beauty clinic chain here in the Philippines that is famous for its facial treatments as well as slimming and massage services.

After receiving a special Premium Pass at the Blogapalooza event that entitled me to one free pampering service at Bioessence, I was ecstatic to finally try it out and see what all the fuss is about!

Upon arriving at the clinic, I immediately felt a sense of calmness and tranquility because of the layout and decor of the place. A skin expert immediately examined my face under a light in order to determine my skin type. I'm not going to lie, it was pretty intimidating. I don't think of myself as "perfect" by any means, but I've always thought I had "okay" skin. Well, I was wrong! The skin expert informed me of my skin problems which included dryness, oiliness, acne, warts, blackheads, whiteheads.... Need I go on? LOL! It was a rude awakening for me, but I was glad to have been informed about these things because now I can take proper care and action in order to treat them.

The Premium Pass only entitled me to a Break Time facial, so I opted for an upgrade and chose to get a full facial treatment instead (including a Diamond Peel).

The first thing that Irene (my assigned skin therapist) did was to perform a basic cleansing on my face. Doing this removed all of my skin's impurities so I could proceed with the treatment with thoroughly cleansed skin.

Next came the Diamond Peel. In case you were curious, the Diamond Peel is basically a form of deep exfoliation. It creates a smoother skin surface by getting rid of all of the dead skin cells that have accumulated on your face. It also helps to correct uneven skin tone.

After the Diamond Peel, it was time for a face steaming! This, to me, felt absolutely glorious because I could feel all of my pores opening up (which is a good thing so all of the dirt can be expelled).

After steaming my face, Irene proceeded to remove my blackheads and whiteheads (I purposely did not include photos of that to spare all of you) and then applied two face masks on me: A collagen mask that is known for its anti-aging properties, and a protein mask for my eyes in order to reduce the dark circles under my eyes.

The mask was left on my face for around 15 minutes and it felt divine! It felt really cool and soothing on my skin and admittedly, I almost fell asleep during this process.

After a while, it was time for the mask to come off! After giving me one final back and head massage, Irene asked me if I wanted iced or hot tea, and I opted for hot because it was already a bit cold in the room.

After the treatment, I was told that I won't be allowed to wear any makeup for the next 6 hours in order to give my skin ample time to absorb all of the nutrients and medicines that they applied on my face. I was okay with it, though, because my skin felt and looked instantly smoother after the facial (not to mention the fact that my face needed some serious detox)! There were some red spots all over my face as a result of the whiteheads/blackheads treatment, but they have already faded as I am currently typing this.

The verdict?

I am extremely happy with the service I have received from Bioessence and I will definitely be returning on a regular basis to continue my facial treatment routine. My skin therapist Irene did such a fabulous job with explaining to me each step/procedure that she was performing on my face.

After the entire experience, I literally felt like I've been away on a relaxing vacation (yes, it felt THAT good!). I also love the fact that each Bioessence therapist has been trained abroad in order to be at par with global standards, competent and credible to perform beauty and spa services.

Without a doubt, Bioessence is #mytopchoice.
